Professional Company

ME Dance Professional Company was founded in 2017 when Marcia choreographed Man in Suit

Marcia began her professional dance company when she realised that a lot of talented dancers were leaving the region to train and then not returning.

The Black Country has a wealth of talented dancers, but there are limited professional opportunities for them. Seeing this gap, Marcia began the company with the aim of establishing and promoting the region as a cultural and creative hub. Since 2017, the company has grown from a soloist to a core of 7 professional dancers.

In 2018, the professional dance company began work on Mania with it's core dancers...

Whilst the piece was a work in progress, it was performed at several platform events across the Midlands. It was due to premiere at the Arena Theatre on 23 October 2019, however, due to COVID-19 the show was postponed and took place on 5 March 2021.

The piece is also due to be performed at The Castle Theatre, Edinburgh as a part of Innovations Dance Platform 2021.

During lockdown the professional company worked on several films, and was commissioned by Phil Knox-Roberts of Dharma Records to make a music video for Frans Bak’s new release ‘Echo Park’.

Since then ME Dance Company has continued its work...

The most recent work being ‘Bella’, commissioned by Black Country Dance Hub.

During the creation of Bella, Marcia was interviewed by BBC Hereford and Worcester to speak about the process and the story we are trying to share. The video was shared on our Instagram which you can view

The work premiered in June 2023, and since then the dancers have performed at local libraries in the Sandwell area in partnership with Sandwell Archives, providing free events to the community to engage in our work. Providing free performances is very important to us as a company, and have received excellent feedback from audiences who wouldn’t usually come and see contemporary dance.

Bella is set to return on 7th March 2024, Arena Theatre Wolverhampton, WV1 1SE.
