Youth Performance

Youth Performance
ME Dance Youth and Graduate Performance company is for females aged 13 - 25 and based in the Black Country
The training programme is taught by Marcia Edwards, with visiting/online Guest Artists that teach the Youth Company, making sure they have a foundation in a range of different teaching practices. So far we have run workshops with Graham of Europe, Cecilia Griffith of Conception Dance Theatre (Grenada), Nii Tete Yartey of NOYAM/Ghanaian National Dance Ensemble and Kate Taylor. Also, dancers from the Professional Company regularly assist teaching of Youth classes.

The Youth Performance Company goes beyond traditional dance training...
It also focuses on allowing dancers to explore their own creative side, developing and perfecting their performance skills.
As the training progresses we prepare the dancers for working as employed or freelance artists by having visiting lecturers talk to the dancers about tax, self-employment, funding, fair pay and workplace safety and rights.
Our aim is to have a Youth Performance Company that is aware of the work that goes on behind the scene’s in a theatre, including learning about lighting, costume, sets and stage direction.
